FAQs

If we're cleaning out a basement or home do you provide any labor services?

No. We do not have labor for this type of service. We recommend that before you discard materials, you check with Goodwill Industries or St. Vincent de Paul to determine if some of the materials may be donated to them and what they will they pick up on site.

What types of heavy materials can be put in the containers?

Concrete, dirt, bricks, and other compact materials may be put in the 20 yard or 30 yard containers, but only a maximum of 1/3 of the 30 yard and ½ of the 20 yard. Please talk to our customer service representative about any extra heavy materials you may have.

Can the dumpster be placed in the street?

In many municipalities, the dumpster cannot be placed in the adjoining roadway without the customer getting and paying for a street permit. These permits can be costly, so check with your local municipality. Our company requires that the customer be responsible for where the container is placed, and each customer must sign a delivery receipt before the container is delivered.

Where can I place the dumpster?

Most homeowners will put the dumpster in their driveway. Driveways must have a firm foundation or the weight of the truck and the loaded container may break the drive. The dumpster may be placed on the lawn, but the weight of the truck and the container will damage the lawn and in some cases leave ruts. If you think that your driveway will be damaged, you may want to order our smallest container, the 6 yard, which has a small footprint and weighs much less. Please examine the area you think the container can be placed and where the truck will travel to place it there. The container cannot be set down under overhead wires or trees branches.

What types of things can't go in the trash dumpster?

Generally speaking, any chemicals, liquids or special wastes such as paints, or pesticides. Some types of materials should not go into the dumpster if they are by law required to be recycled, such as cardboard, plastic, glass and aluminum beverage containers. Some items require special handling or processing such as appliances or computers. Please see our list of prohibited materials which will give you alternative disposal methods.

What does the delivery slip look like?

The delivery slip contains information about:Proper container use: Customers are not allowed to overload the container by weight or by volume, the container should not be loaded over the top level. Prohibited waste: No prohibited materials should be placed in the container; any acidic, flammable, liquid, hazardous or toxic. Damages: Pellitteri Waste System’s is not responsible for damage to pavement, lawn, or surface of any route reasonably necessary to perform the service, as the customer warrants that surfaces are sufficient to bear the weight of our equipment. Payment: Customer agrees to pay all charges within 30 days of invoice. Any further questions about our policies and procedures contact customer service, 257-4285.

Should the customer be there when we deliver the container?

Yes. We prefer that the customer to be there to sign for the container placement and other terms of delivery. We also require payment at the time of delivery which can be handled at the time of delivery by cash or check, or before hand by credit card or internet check service. If you are unavailable during the delivery of your container you may make arrangments with Pellitteri's customer service representative and have a delivery slip emailed or sent to you prior to deliery, as we must have a signed delivery slip in order to deliver the container.

What are landfill tipping fees?

The landfill fees associated with disposing of waste materials is charged by the ton. When we take your load of discarded material to the landfill, our trucks are weighed going in and out and the net weight of the material is calculated. For our 12, 20 and 30 yard containers, we charge the tipping fee to the customer. This way the customer only pays for the amount of material that they are disposing of. Some companies may charge a flat rate, but this results in higher costs to the customer in most cases.

How long can I keep the container without any additional charges?

The large 12,20, and 30 yard containers may be kept for up to 7 calendar days without additional charges. Our 6 yard container may be kept up to 21 days. In the winter months of January, February, and March we normally will grant additional time if required, because the demand for containers is lower.
