Heather Glen HOA: Recycling has been delayed from Tuesday, 9/26, to Wednesday, 9/27. We apologize for the delay, and thank you for your patience!
For questions regarding your service, contact us below or call 608-257-4285.
We are happy to be serving the DSI (Veridian Homes) with our automated system for the collection of your trash and all-in-one recycling!
If your driveway is on a carriage lane (alley) then you use Pellitteri Waste Systems carts for trash and recycling pickup. If not, then you should check with your municipal public works department for service.
The standard size carts are a 95-gallon trash (dark brown) and a 65-gallon recycling (blue). 95-gallon and 65-gallon options are available for both trash and recycling. For more information or to schedule an exchange, please call (608) 257-4285 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is a charge for curbside exchanges ($45.00 in 2023).
The carts should be at the end of your driveway by 6:00 a.m. After your cart is emptied, remove it from the street that day. Timing will fluctuate week to week due to a number of factors.
Carts should be at the end of your driveway and accessible off the carriage lane (alley), but no further than two feet. The cart should be placed on level ground, and should be at least four feet from any obstacle such as utility poles, mail boxes, trees, and parked cars. The handles of the carts should face your house so that the lid opens properly when being dumped.
Please call us at 608-257-4285. The carts are the property of Pellitteri Waste Systems and we will take care of any normal wear and tear, or damage by our trucks. There is a fee to the resident if the cart is otherwise damaged or stolen while in their custody.
Only household trash can be put in your cart. Do not place cardboard, recyclables, construction materials, demolition, brush or yard waste, electronics, or hazardous materials in your cart. To reduce wind-blown materials, consider bagging your trash before placing in your cart.
Please see our recycling page for a list of acceptable items, printable copies in English and Spanish, a 7-minute video of what happens to your recycling, over twenty 1-minute recycling tip videos, and a video on solid waste technology in Wisconsin ("Becoming Stewards of Recycling", which aired on the Into The Outdoors television series).
The lid on your cart should shut; in order to prevent messes, please do not overload carts.
There is a charge for any trash and/or recycling that does not fit into your cart with the lid shut. The charge is approximately $5.20 per bag (2023 pricing). Bags should be 32-gallon or less and 50 pounds or less. Recycling must be placed in clear plastic bags (tinted blue or green is acceptable). Extra cardboard must be flattened and also placed in the clear plastic bags. Do not tie or bundle cardboard. Please contact us at least one day prior to your service day to schedule and prepay.
Large items that do not fit in bags have separate charges and pickup days. Please contact us for details.
If you consistently have additional trash/or recycling, you could consider an additional container(s). Additional containers are available for an annual charge per cart ($99 per cart in 2023). Please contact our office at 608-257-4285 to schedule and prepay.
The automated collection program is not intended to provide this type of service. You have several options. Please call us at (608) 257-4285 for a phone quotation for one of our temporary dumpsters. It is best to arrange for this type of dumpster service prior to beginning the work. Also, check to see if we are running any special pricing or coupons in your area.
There is a fee per item for bulky items such as stoves, refrigerators (with doors removed), hot-water tanks, furniture, and other large household items. Please contact us with details of the quantity and type of item(s). We are happy to provide you with the bulky item disposal cost and instructions for disposal, as well as alternative disposal options if available.
No. The carts are not to be removed from the property. The carts are the property of Pellitteri Waste Systems and need to stay at the house.
The automated cart dumping process lifts the container upside down and stops with a slight jolt. If the material is wedged tightly or there are larger loose items, the material may not come out. Please put the heavier items in the bottom of the cart and do not compact the material. Pizza boxes and other large items should be placed vertically in the container to prevent them from catching under the hydraulic arms.
Many factors can contribute to whether carts remain upright after being emptied. The automated system uses hydraulic arms to pick up the cart and dump it into the truck which are controlled by a joystick from inside the truck. The carts tend to be top-heavy once empty, especially 65 gallon carts. Depending on how flat the surface of where the cart has been set, as well the size of the cart, how heavy the contents of the cart were, moisture on the outside of the cart, and the amount of wind, it can be very difficult to set the carts down without them tipping over. Due to safety concerns for both residents and the drivers, the drivers are not able to get out of their trucks to set cart back upright at every home. There are many benefits to the automated system, especially for safety and cost savings to residents. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with the automated system.
