Our Beginning

The Pellitteri tradition of service began in Madison in 1939 when the Pellitteri brothers (Tom's father and uncles) used a borrowed truck to deliver coal and haul away garbage for Capital square merchants. Steady business and a strong dedication to customer service ensured the growth of the business to a point at which the Pellitteri brothers purchased their own trucks and built a respected reputation in the disposal business.

Tony Pellitteri continued to operate his business, "Tony Pellitteri Trucking Service," until his death in 1968, after which it was sold to a national concern. Tony had eight brothers who worked with him at various times. Pellitteri was the first company to bring to Madison mechanized packer trucks and automated container systems that reduced the "back-breaking" lifting of 55-gallon drums and GI garbage pails. Innovation and labor-saving methods are a tradition at Pellitteri since we are committed to our employees' safety and welfare.

In 1979, Tom Pellitteri and his wife, Michele, founded Pellitteri Waste Systems, Inc. which has become a state-of-the-art waste disposal and recycling business. They built their business on the principles of consultative selling, always looking for a better way to meet the needs of their customers.

Here are Tom and Michele Pellitteri and their children, as they appeared in a Verona Hometown, USA parade. The vintage 1930 International Truck is restored to look like one of the original Pellitteri trash trucks.

In 2002 Pellitteri Waste Systems opened a new division to protect customer’s confidential information. Data & identity theft was becoming more prevalent and businesses needed better ways to protect confidential information. Providing the highest level of security for on-site Data Destruction services for businesses and individuals, Pellitteri Data Destruction Division was born.

In 2012 Pellitteri Waste Systems added a state of the art, fully automated MRF (Material Recovery Facility) which sorts single stream recyclables. Recyclables are sorted, bailed and shipped to manufacturers to be made into new products.

CNG vehicles were added to the fleet in 2015 along with an internal expansion of maintenance facilities to allow for the serving and maintenance of compressed natural gas trucks.

Today the 3rd generation of Pellitteri's oversee the day to day operations of the business in addition to the long term and future planning for the company. They enjoy and have the privilege of working with ~100 employees, to continue the Pellitteri family business’s tradition of service. The 3rd generation of Pellitteri’s hold the same principles Tom and Michele founded the business with almost 40 years ago.
