City of Fitchburg Brush for the week of 5/20-5/24: If we already came through your area 5/20 or 5/21, we may or may not be able to come back through. We need to complete the rest of the service first, and then will see what time allows. The City of Fitchburg Recycling Drop off Site is accepting brush/tree limbs due to the storm (normally they only accept yard waste). Because of the style of trucks we use for collection (not a chipper), brush must meet certain requirements to be collected. If piles are not prepared this way, we will not be able to collect it.
-
Inaccessible roads: There will likely be some roads that inaccessible due to road closures from downed trees and power lines.
-
Different timing: Pickup times may be different than residents are used to, either earlier or later. We recommend carts be out by 6:00 a.m. or the night before every week, as other factors can affect pickup time even when there's not inclement weather.
-
Wind: If materials in carts are not bagged, excessive wind may create wind-blown litter. For safety, the drivers are not able to get out at every stop to clean up. (If you bag your recycling, please use clear/transparent plastic bags.)
-
Knocked over carts: Drivers are not able to collect carts that are knocked over and cannot get out at every stop to upright them due to time constraints and safety concerns (for both our drivers and other drivers on the road). If you happen to be home and you see your cart has been tipped over, please set the carts upright if you're able to prior to our arrival so they can be serviced.
-
Safety: Thank you for your understanding!
-
Cart Placement: Please keep carts 4 feet away from each other and any other obstructions to prevent them from being tipped over during service, or not serviced at all.
